Rushed Preparation In 2009

Woods had a very interupted preparation for the US Masters last year, only managing three tournament appearances shortly before declaring himself fit to tackle Augusta.

Tiger had showed his wellbeing with a win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational the week before the Masters but Augusta proved be too stern a test so early in his comeback and he eventually finished Tied 6th, four shots behind eventual winner Angel Cabrera.

2010 preparations cant have been any better, with Tiger being off the course for so long.

Knee Surgery Likely To Have a Positive Longterm Effect

Woods needed major reconstructive surgery to ligaments in his knee straight after his dramatic victory in the 2008 US Open at Torrey Pines where he managed to grasp his fourteenth Major win but the signs are that this surgery will improve Woods' longterm fitness and can only help him in his ultimate goal of winning more Major titles than anyone else.

US Masters Love Affair

Tiger Woods first played in the US Masters as an Amateur in 1995 when he finished Tied for 41st but was the low Amateur of the tournament.

Two years later he was back as a professional and proceeded to win the US Masters by a record margin of twelve strokes and in the process became the youngest ever Masters champion.

Top ten finishes followed in 1998 and 2000 and back to back victories in 2001 and 2002 where Woods defeated Retief Goosen and David Duval into the runner-up spots.

Tiger had to wait till 2005 for his final Masters win (up to now!) when he defeated Chris Di Marco in a dramatic play-off. Woods started the day six shots behind Di Marco but a seven hole birdie streak from the 7th hole saw Tiger force his way to another Major victory.

Since then he has gone agonisingly close to a fifth Masters Green Jacket, finishing 3rd, 2nd, 2nd and 6th.

A Fifth US Masters in 2010?

Tiger Woods will be the first name that everyone looks for when considering a bet on the US Masters and whoever you decide to back there can be no denying he will be a big danger to your selection if he does make it to the first tee.

With four wins here in his thirteen years as a professional the current odds on offer of atound 5/2 could look very attractive by the time the 2010 Masters champion is putting on the Green Jacket.
