Ignore The Hype, This Guy Can Really Play!
Camilo Villegas may be the pin-up boy of the PGA Tour but this young man can also definitely play the game and looks a good bet to win a Major in the next couple of seasons and we think his first win could well come in the US Masters.
Gradual Improvement Since 2004 Debut
Villegas first played on the PGA Tour in 2004 and won his first PGA Tour title in September 2008 winning the BMW Championship and then recorded his second Tour victory at the Tour Championship 3 weeks later.
Here Comes The Spiderman!
Villegas gets plenty of media attention for his high levels of physical fitness and extreme methods of lining up his putts (his ground level contortionist like sighting of the alignment of the greens have won him the nickname Spiderman!).
Potential To Reach The Very Top
He is undoubtedly one of the rising stars of the game with some commentators talking of Villegas as an incomplete player with huge potential but with the necessary hunger to win the big tournaments. David Feherty, now a on course-analyser for CBS, suggests Villegas reminds him very much of Tiger Woods, a high complement indeed.
A Masters Champion Of The Future?
Villegas has played in the Masters on three occasions, missing the cut on his first two attempts but played superbly after a disappointing opening 73 in 2009 to finish Tied 13th. The young Colombian admits that he needs to improve his putting but he seems to be moving in the right direction with his consistency on the greens. He will certainly need to putt at his best when he returns to Augusta but all the other areas of his game, particularly his iron play, are up there challenging the likes of Woods and Mickelson.

Like the other young gun Anthony Kim, Villegas appears very good value at the current available odds as he has the potential for even more improvement and could be half the odds currently on offer by the time the Masters comes round in 2010. He should definitely be in your consideration for your staking plan for 2010 and is currently our many fancy for the 2010 US Masters
